ideolux at [d]arc thoughts:

joining the conversation around light

ideolux joins clerkenwell design week 2026 after milan design week. We continue its presence in leading design platforms focused on light and architecture. Ideolux joins the [d]arc thoughts programme by [d]arc media at clerkenwell design week

[d]arc thoughts is a three day programme of lighting focused talks and presentations. Interior designers, lighting designers, and manufacturers share knowledge on real project applications on this dedicated platform

ideolux is not taking a speaking role within the programme. Instead, the focus is on supporting the event as a sponsor and contributing through lighting experience within the space

why these conversations matter
[d]arc thoughts addresses questions shaping the lighting industry today

why is lighting design still undervalued in project decisions?
how can lighting support long term flexibility and adaptability?
can lighting remain conscious while meeting technical demands?

these questions are no longer theoretical. They directly influence how spaces are designed and experienced. Sessions such as ‘how to be brilliant at designing with light’ and ‘can we still design consciously with light?’ reflect this shift. Lighting is now part of early design thinking. It is no longer treated as a final layer. It shapes architecture, perception, and use

a space that becomes part of the dialogue
ideolux worked directly with the character of the venue, the house of detention. Our approach wasn’t to simply illuminate a space. We focused on understanding how light could reveal what already exists within it

the lighting design process began with observation. The architecture, its material depth, and its underground atmosphere informed every decision. Lighting was developed to reveal its existing character

linear luminaires graze the brick walls. They bring out texture, rhythm, and depth. Flexible linear lighting defines key zones in the talk space. It creates structure without closing the space

RGBW accents introduce subtle variation and movement. They add depth without changing the mood of the space. Suspended linear elements sit behind the speakers. They support the stage presence without overpowering it

the lighting is layered rather than applied. Each layer supports visibility and atmosphere. The intention was not to redesign the space with light. It was to let the space speak through light

an invitation to experience the dialogue
[d]arc thoughts takes place from 19–21 May, between 1pm and 4pm at the house of detention during clerkenwell design week

ideolux will be present throughout the programme. The team will be available for informal conversations on lighting and design. The focus is shared interest in how light shapes space
