located in lusail city, qatar, the marina phase-1 district cooling plant (marina dcp) is a key component of one of the world’s largest district cooling networks, with a capacity of 108,300 tr. Its cylindrical façade, rising nearly 40 meters and wrapped in patterned cladding, required a precise lighting solution to highlight both its monumental scale and architectural detail
the main challenge was achieving sharp, glare-free illumination over this vertical height while incorporating vibrant colors. Conventional floodlights could not deliver focused, straight-cut beams without mixing light or distorting colors. To overcome this, ideolux designed a customized solution using pro disk flood lights with special optics, producing an ultra-narrow 5-degree beam angle. This approach enabled crisp, uniform light up to 40 meters, showcasing colors perfectly while enhancing the structure’s geometry and maintaining visual comfort
dynamic lighting scenes further elevate the project, animating the façade and creating a landmark within lusail city’s nightscape. Through our tailored lighting solution, the designers’ vision was realized, combining technical precision, color fidelity, and visual impact to transform the marina dcp into a distinctive architectural icon
